Welcome to Withernsea Primary School

Withernsea Primary School serves the town and surrounding villages of Withernsea. We are one of the largest primary schools in the East Riding of Yorkshire. We are spaced over two buildings with extensive playgrounds and fields. We have three classes per year group and nursery provision. We have bright welcoming classrooms that are equipped with the latest technology.

We have a very talented teaching team and support staff team who offer the children many different ways to excel and achieve. We promote children taking responsibility for their learning, being resourceful and resilient, and being able to reason and reflect on their learning. We promote children trying hard, learning from mistakes and enjoying challenges. We cater for special educational needs and have a diversity of experience with many different special educational needs.

We are proud of our welcoming and supportive environment. Staff work closely in phase teams so that they get to know each child and are able to develop strong relationships. Our restorative approach underpins the pastoral support we offer and helps children learn how to work happily and effectively alongside one another. Each phase has an Assistant Head, teachers, achievement support, emotional well being worker and a cover supervisor.

We teach an exciting and enjoyable curriculum that follows the national curriculum, with dedicated lessons in English, Mathematics, Science. Art, DT, History and Geography, Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship, Computing, Music PE and RE.. We also teach French to children from Year 3 upwards.

We encourage the pupils to be involved in their own learning and take responsibility for their own learning. We encourage them to have opinions and take part fully in all aspects of school. There are many opportunities for them to join in, including class and school councils working within the Trust, monitors for roles in school, ambassadors and librarians. We encourage them to take a pride in their learning and achievements.
